Purgamentum (Germany)

Purgamentum (Germany)

T: What musical influences on the sound of Purgamentum?

P: The stuff we listened to the last decades. Darkthrone, Mayhem, Immortal, Dissection, Nocte Obducta, Taake and stuff like this. Also a lot of other dirt ... doom, thrash, rock, punk etc.

T: The band was formed in 2010. Why it takes it to burn a CD?

P: We took only the material, which was worthy to release in our opinion. We had a high level of quality, so It always needs time to fix and prepare the material, so everybody in the Band feels confident with it. I don't think that three years are a long time.

T: They chose a name for the band. Which was in Latin (Purgamentum n. Latin)?. Why they chose that name? Many Who are unaware of its history? It means waste or dirt. Also expiatory sacrifice or sin offering. And secretum, scum or mob. All things we feel like.

T: How do you describe the sound of Purgamentum?

P: Hard, cold, particular brutal and particular desponding.

T: In which bands have found their influences?

P: All in all the brutal and extreme part of metal. Look at the first question - Darkthrone, Mayhem, Immortal, Dissection, Nocte Obducta, Taake etc., also brutal and technical deathmetal, harsh and rough thrashmetal. Some doom stuff, especially funeral doom because of the athmosphere.

T: Listen to the CD. "Aschewelt" me is surprised by the sound. It is brutal. You can tell us about the songs? Who composed them and do to create the structure of a song?

P: We have different themes ... with "W.A.R." we march into the first world war, "Gier" is about the mighty darkness and its greed to possess all, "in das vergessen" deal with the time you die and you look back on your live,"memento mori" lyrics. "Erntemond" is about harvestmen and cradler reaping lives. "Aschewelt" shows the world after the breakdown of mankind. Most of the guitar riffs were composed by the guitarplayers, sometimes at home, sometimes during the rehearsel and were fixed as complete songs during the rehearsel by the band. Some title were completely composed and built during the rehearsel, too.

T: Tell me Why they make the decision to break down the band now? Maybe discrepancies between you? Or who remains in its projects in other bands?

P: Times and circumstances are changing. We had in the band always the problem with the rehearsels because of shift work of the members. some new problems joined the old ones. the singer joined an occupational retraining for a new job. I had the last years problems with tenosynovitis into the elbow and need a longer break. so we decided to split up because we can't go on with the quality we want. And with new members it is not PURGAMENTUM anymore.

T: Frank.What plans for future?

P: Playing in a band again ... but I don't know, when. There are still the problems with the tenosynovitis ...

T: Some words for the readers of The Legion of TchorT Zine and where you can buy your merchandise?

P: Stay heavy and dark and believe in yourself! And look out for the real stuff furthermore! Get in contact with us via facebook.

T: Thanks Frank for the opportunity it gives me to hear this musical gem that will be the first and the last.

P: Thanx a lot for your words and the questions.

Stortregn (Switzerland)

Stortregn (Switzerland)

Stortregn is a Black/Death metal band formed in Switzerland in 2005. After recording their first demo in 2007, they recorded Devoured By Oblivion, their first EP, which garnered a lot of attention and positive reviews.
In autumn 2010, having toured Cuba, Stortregn recorded their first album, Uncreation, which was released in June 2011 under Great Dane Records (FR). The release of the second album, Evocation Of Light, by Great Dane Records (FR) and Apocalyptic Art (GER) in September 2013, was followed by an Eastern European tour and a French tour in 2014. In 2015, they played at Wacken Festival, as finalists of the Wacken Metal Battle Switzerland.
While they started by taking influence of the Nordic Black Metal scene, they are expanding their vision and sound into a more contemporary era. Greatly appreciated for their music, even more so for their live shows, consisting of a mix of pig’s blood, charging riffs and blast beats, delivered with a relentless energy. With nearly 100 gigs including 3 tours (Cuba , Eastern countries and France), Stortregn has become inevitable in the world of Swiss black/death metal. After many changes, the formation has stabilised and the current line-up consists of Romain Negro on vocals and guitar, Johan Smith on lead guitars, Duran Bathija on bass guitar and Samuel Jakubec on drums. With their new upcoming album “Singularity”, which includes prestigious guests apparances and the artistic mastery of Juanjo Castellano, the band brings back the agressiveness into the metal world.

Temple (Netherlands)

Temple (Netherlands)

TEMPLE, the most uncompromising death metal project from the Netherlands.
A.J. van Drenth, guitars and vocals, composer of both music and lyrics started TEMPLE with Eric de Windt, high energy blast beat drums creating uncompromising brutal death metal with a sinister atmosphere. A.J. and Eric, the constructors of TEMPLE recorded the album “Structures in Chaos”, assisted by some well-known Dutch metal musicians; Michiel Dekker (The Monolith Deathcult) – Bass and Stephan Gebedi (Hail of Bullets) - horrifying screams. The great long blond haired vox Marloes (Izegrim) did some amazing "black metal witch vokills” on the tracks "The Algol Planet" and "Rituals of Marduk".
A lyrical concept dedicated to universal chaos, and those who walked the earth once before, the Gods and Architects of all. Experience a journey through twisted corridors with the sound of TEMPLE from their walls. TEMPLE did one live show, the famous and insane Stonehenge Fest 2013 in The Netherlands. A great response for a first time appearance. The show and rehearsals where assisted by Jessica (Dictated) on guitar, former Sinister bass player Bas van den Bogaard and with vocals from out of space, Kevin, the alien of new Dutch promising band Apophys. There are no more TEMPLE shows planned so far, due concentration on next recordings. Bas is next to Eric and A.J. the 3rd bass sound on the upcoming album.
A new TEMPLE record is in creation status. A.J. withdraw himself for some time to Slaughterville to write, arrange and create a complete new full album. Musically you'll find some influences of black metal through epic technical and above all, the most relentless, uncompromising Death Metal the TEMPLE way!
