Sekhmet (Czech Republic)

Sekhmet (Czech Republic)

Sekhmet - Spiritual Eclipse (2016) Though the band title came from Egyptian mythology the music is not similar to Nile (ha-ha). This band is from Czech Republic and for me it’s like the mark of quality. Starting from the intro full with industrial beats “Spiritual Eclipse” is drawing grim post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Other tracks make this atmosphere deeper and deeper with each track. Guitars sound morbid and sharp many tremolos and dissonance arpeggio could be discovered here. Some tracks make you flying over the decaying landscapes and some of them sound like eсstatic dance on the scorched earth Sabbath! And some separate words about vocal – it is amazing! It is grim sick and furious, sometimes changed into declaiming spoken word and sometimes sounding like lonely scream between dying worlds. Album ends with a cover on Marduk’s “Funeral Bitch” which sounds too calm after all previous tracks but gives some rest before you push on “repeat.” Definitely it’s a very good stuff!
