Wormwood
(Sweden)
Back
in a greyish 2014, a new band emerged from a vision.
Guitarist
Rydsheim and bass player Borka (both ex-Åskfödd) joined forces with the drummer
Johtun. After setting down the main foundation of ideas for the band they
recruited the singer Nine (Withershin) who had the ferociousness they were
looking for. Guitarist Nox (Withershin, ex-Pray for Locust) later completed the
lineup of WORMWOOD.
Together
they proceeded to forge a unique sound that evolved into a mix of atmospheric
and grim black metal with ancient Scandinavian melodies.
In
2015 WORMWOOD released the EP: “The Void – Stories From the Whispering Well”
A
frantic year of gigs and a tour to promote the aforementioned EP went by. The
time had come for WORMWOOD to finalize and record their full-length album.
With
the skilled Sverker Widgren of Wing Studios at the wheel of production, the
grand opus was completed and named: “Ghostlands – Wounds From a Bleeding Earth”
An
album inspired by the unrelenting Scandinavian north, the vast and mystical
space and old folk tales. An ethereal cascade perfectly blended together to
form a unique soundscape.
Alongside
working on the album WORMWOOD, together with director/editor Isak Skagerström
(Sound & Vision Studio), released a highly successful music video: “Godless
Serenade”
The
video itself was inspired by man's inner trials and tribulations.
In
the fall of 2016 WORMWOOD signed a deal with the Dutch label: Non Serviam
Records.
Now
is the time of WORMWOOD. “We are the wounds from a bleeding earth”
